George Vasey is a curator and writer. In 2017 he was curator of the Turner Prize at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull and is currently a curatorial fellow at Newcastle University. From 2014 to 2016 he was curator at Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland. His writing has appeared in Art Monthly, Art Review, Frieze, Kaleidoscope and Mousse magazine and in 2013 was the writer in residence at Jerwood Space, London. From 2016 to 2017 he worked alongside Milly Thompson as lead mentor on Syllabus II, a peer led learning programme for 10 artists run by New Contemporaries, Eastside projects, Wysing Art Centre, Studio Voltaire, S1 Artspace and Spike Island. He has worked with artists including Nicholas Pope, Rebecca Ackroyd, Lorna Macintyre, Phoebe Unwin, David Austen, Erica Scourti, Joanna Piotrowska, Beatriz Olabarrieta, Cornelia Baltes, Jonathan Baldock, Eric Bainbridge and Anna Barham among many others. He has worked across the UK delivering curatorial projects for commercial, artist-led and public galleries including Grand Union, Limoncello, Chapter Arts Centre, Workplace Gallery, KARST, Richard Saltoun and Jerwood Space.
