Poppy Bowers is Exhibition Curator at The Whitworth, part of the University of Manchester. She has recently curated exhibitions by Stephen Sutcliffe and Graham Eatough, Maeve Brennan and Isaac Julien and is currently working with South African artist William Kentridge to present his touring show Thick Time, co-organised with Whitechapel Gallery, London; Louisiana Museum, Denmark and Museum der Moderne Salzburg.
From 2011-2016, Poppy was Assistant Curator at The Whitechapel Gallery, London, working on exhibitions and publications with artists including Sarah Lucas, Giuseppe Penone and Richard Tuttle. Previously she was Exhibitions Coordinator at the Wellcome Collection. In 2015 she founded NEW STUDIO, an itinerant project space for contemporary art rooted in the idea of the studio as a test-site. That same year she worked with Measure arts organisation to curate 4 new sound commissions for a historic telephone kiosk on Piccadilly in London.
