The Tetley, Leeds
The Tetley has an active engagement with contemporary performance practices. Over the last year the gallery has hosted a week long intensive residency for performance artists from South Asia and the UK and programmed works by artists experimenting with performance based practices including Corin Sworn and Doria Garcia. Artistic Director of The Tetley Bryony Bond, choreographer, dancer and member of the artistic team at ExtraCity Antwerp Michiel Vandevelde and artists Maeve Rendle and Nicola Singh each presented their recent projects in response to considerations of movement as both mode of performance, a method of working and an important consideration for the viewer when engaging with given works. The public discussion ended with the preview of a new performance piece Do-ers by Maeve Rendle.
